ISoc continues a country-wide tradition of hosting a friday football session for the brothers. There’s not enough to say about Friday football, in short, it represents the pinnacle of Muslim sporting achievement and to understate our prodigious talent we have our fair share of self-confessed Sadio Mané’s and Lionel Messi’s.
In reality, we have a few brothers who are really quite good and a lot of brothers who are really quite bad! However, your talent doesn’t really matter, as Friday football is just a great way of chilling with the lads and getting to know people better. The real bonding, however, happens after Friday football with our post-football feat. We usually end up at Zi’s Piri Piri who have fast become used to us overtaking their restaurant on a weekly basis.
All in all, Friday football has to be one of our weekly highlights and is the perfect way to let off some steam after a Cambridge week. Whether you’re any good at football or not, we hope to see you there!
In recent years we’ve gone head to head with Oxford University Islamic Society, playing once a year for one of the biggest prizes in football. Whether you’re playing or supporting, it’s always a great day so keep an eye out for this event!
